For a number of years I have tried to help with the re-introduction of Grey Partridges in my native East Yorkshire. The Grey Partridge has suffered a terrible decline in recent years, really mirroring the exact opposite of the advancement in mechanised and commercial agriculture. The once common coveys of our native partridge have started to become increasingly rare, this isn't a product of overshooting, instead its due to increased field size, the lack of stubbles over winter and the excessive use of pesticides in modern agriculture.
