With your 6 acre small holding Willow I am surprised you have time for the internet! Judging by your breed list, you obviously have a passion for poultry and luckily the space too!  Ixworths are a great utility bird, I was at a meeting of our new local Poultry Club, The Craven Poultry Keepers Club, and our Chairman, Edward Boothman (who is also the Vice President of the Poultry Club of Great Britain) a champion of breeding Utility birds was enthusing about Ixworths - Dare I say my Ixworths!? Ixworths are a fantastic chicken to keep and they certainly pay their way both in laying terms and the quality of meat they produce.  I will try to keep you updated on the progress of our birds, but you must bear with us on the website as it is work in progress. Come the new season should you want some Ixworth hatching eggs, please do let me know and we will try and sort some out for you.  Thank you for your very kind comments.

Australorps???

Submitted by Guest (not verified) on Sun, 21/03/2010 - 12:02.

Hello there Julian!!

I am kind of grasping at straws here!

I am just starting to look into keeping chickens for my back ggarden. I particularly want 2 Australorps ( I want 6 altogether) but am really struggling to find anyone 'up North' (I live in Manchester) who has Australorps!!

I thinnk I want young chicks, but I could go from eggs as my friend has an incubator or POLs...!! In fact any Australorp will do!!

can you help me? or do you know of anyone else who might be able to?

Thank you!!

Karen

Hello Julian

I am just getting back intouch to say yes please to hatching eggs when they are ready.

The pair I have are looking good and the fertility of the eggs are good.

I have already hatched a few just to see how they come out and they are good strong chicks.

I know its a bit early but just could not wait.

Hope all is well with you

Many Thanks

Willow

Hello julian
Thank you for your email and your comments on the birds I have found.
I will most certainly be back intouch next year and try and pay you a visit.
You are right I do not get out much the smallholding is my, life but I have promised myself that next year I will join a few clubs and try and show some of my birds.
I love the Ixworth and with people like you doing your best to keep the line going good and strong we stand a chance of finding good birds at last.
A big thank you from me.
Wendy
